2021 WWE NXT Breakout Tournament To Begin In July

The NXT Breakout Tournament returns!

WWE has confirmed the return of the NXT Breakout Tournament.

The second-ever edition of the competition was announced as coming back to the black-and-gold brand in two weeks' time, on Tuesday 13 July, with select qualifying matches for the Tournament taking place on this Friday's 205 Live.

The winner of the NXT Breakout Tournament will get a Championship opportunity at a Title of their choosing on the NXT brand.

At time of writing, none of the names taking place in the tournament have been confirmed, but the 2019 iteration gave the WWE Universe an introduction to the likes of Bronson Reed, Dexter Lumis, Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, and Cameron Grimes, with each competing to earn an NXT Championship match.

The winner of the first ever NXT Breakout Tournament was Jordan Myles, who defeated Grimes in the final.

The 2019 Tournament brought names to NXT that have since become staples of the black-and-gold brand. Isaiah 'Swerve' Scott is the NXT North American Champion, having defeated fellow 2019 tournament participant Reed for the title on this week's NXT.
