Adam Cole Fails To Earn AEW World Title Shot On Dynamite

Adam Cole fails to defeat MJF on AEW Dynamite

Adam Cole won't be challenging for the AEW World Championship in the near future.

The former ROH World Champion faced MJF in an AEW World Title Eliminator in the opening contest of the June 14 edition of Dynamite, with a 30-minute time limit in play for the match. Both men fought back and forth in an excellent bout which featured plenty of MJF hijinks as he tried to do everything in his power to avoid facing Cole in a rematch.

Cole managed to survive some Eddie Guerrero-esque collapsing and a Low Blow shot from MJF before the AEW World Champion put on his Dynamite Diamond Ring to use against his opponent. Referee Bryce Remsburg spotted what MJF had done, though, and Cole took advantage, connecting with a Superkick before he followed up with a Panama Sunrise.

Cole didn't have his mind on the clock, however, and he hyped up the crowd before he decked MJF with the Boom. The former Undisputed Elite member then took an age rolling MJF over for the pin and time expired just before Bryce Remsburg's hand could hit the mat for the three count.

Cole tried desperately to have five more minutes added to the match but MJF refused and left the ring with the AEW World Championship in his grasp. How long Cole's programme with MJF will continue remains to be seen.
