Adam Cole: I Knew AEW Was Going To Be Special After The First Press Conference

Cole had a feeling

One week after the company's official formation on January 1, 2019, All Elite Wrestling held their inaugural press conference on the forecourt of TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.

By this point, Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks had already been confirmed as executive vice presidents of the new promotion and AEW revealed at the press conference that the likes of "Hangman" Adam Page, PAC, Britt Baker, Joey Janela, SCU and Chris Jericho would be members of AEW's roster.

Although he was in WWE NXT at the time, Adam Cole knew AEW was going to be special after the inaugural press conference, he revealed on Talk Is Jericho

"I was so excited because of my relationship with Matt & Nick [Jackson], I knew how serious this was going to be. I knew, between the roster that started coming out with the big press conference and you [Chris Jericho] are there and PAC is there and the Bucks and Kenny, I knew this was going to be special. You could feel the energy and the vibe, not just in person when the fans were there, but in this day and age with social media, it's really important. The social media buzz around AEW was so strong," Cole said.

"When the first couple of shows started happening, I was like, 'This is great.' It was a real true alternative that was just knocking it out of the park every time. I was actually, even before the first few shows, I was very confident it was going to do well. I don't know if anyone expected it to blow up the way that it has. It's so cool to watch and it's so awesome. Now that we're here, I'm excited to see where AEW will be a year or two from now."

Cole made his All Elite Wrestling debut at the All Out pay-per-view on September 5 and reunited with The Elite. He has since reformed the SuperKliq with the Young Bucks and they defeated Jurassic Express and Christian Cage on the special Grand Slam edition of AEW Rampage on September 24.
