You can’t talk about Texas wrestling without mentioning the Von Erichs, and it was good to see Kevin Von Erich accompanying The Sons of Texas for this one. The face started strong and utilised quick tags to establish control of the bout, but soon STP took control as Captain Sean Dean and Carlie Bravo isolated Ross Von Erich and worked the ROH Six Man Tag Champion over. The action spilled to the floor as Shane Taylor ran wild and mowed down everything in sight, but back in ring Ross Von Erich used all his energy to powerslam the big fella, as Anthony Ogogo squared up to Kevin Von Erich on the floor as Wyatt and Wayne Rhodes backed up the WCCW legend. Dustin Rhodes hit his greatest hits on The Infantry in ring and a big Crossrhoads but he could only get two as STP swarmed. The match broke down into a four corners brawl as the faces hit quad Iron Claws, the crowd coming unglued as Kevin locked in the fearsome hold on Ogogo as the faces got the win.

Hologram and Hechicero exchanged intricate pinfall attempts, before Kyle O’Reilly tagged into to fight Lance Archer - the Murderhawk Monster leathering the former ROH World Champion. Rocky Romero stomped O’Reilly in front of Big Justice and The American Dream Rizzler Rhodes, only for Trent Beretta to pieface Big Justice and floor the literal child. Hologram restored balance after a prolonged beatdown on KOR by The Family, before Ishii and Lance Archer just started wailing on one another. Ishii went for the brainbuster but got easily disposed of by Archer, but recovered to drop the big man as The Rizzler voiced his approval.

Big Boom tagged in to wail on RPG Vice, then sent Archer to the floor with a clothesline before levelling Beretta with a spinebuster and military pressing Rocky into Archer on the floor. Hechicero nailed a vicious headscissors spike onto Hologram as the match fully broke down. AJ and Ishii fired up to batter RPG Vice before Archer felled the Stone Pitbull with a huge chokeslam before KOR dove onto Archer and Hechicero on the floor, Hologram assisting with a big Senton cannonball. Trent superkick to AJ, but the Costco recovered with a slugging lariat before Big Justice cut Beretta down with a spear. Power-BOOM onto Rocky for the 1-2-3.

FTR def. The Outrunners - Pre-Show

No fear on the face of the Outrunners as they took it to FTR from the bell, forcing the ‘Top Guys’ to bail to the floor and regroup with Big Stoke. Dax Harwood decided to just gouge Truth magnum as FTR took control of the bout. Turbo Floyd took a nasty spill to the floor as Dax Harwood targeted the youngest man alive’s knee with a pitch perfect Figure Four Leglock. Hot tag to Magnum as he ran wild and repeatedly smashed Dax’s head into the turnbuckles. FTR worked over Magnum but he kept firing back, getting an opening after avoiding a Cash Wheeler bodypress on the floor.

As Truth ran for the tag Dax cut him in half with a pounce, but he recovered to nail a double DDT on the former AEW World Tag Team Champions but could not get the tag as FTR flattened him and hit the Rocket Launcher for two. Magnum got the hot tag but the ref did not see it, as FTR just wailed on Truth before he finally got the hot tag as Turbo ran wild with bodyslams and a big gun show before a huge bulldog clothesline combo on Dax and Cash. Double Predator Elbow Drop but FTR lived to see another day, Dax somehow kicking out of a jackknife from Turbo before kicking out of a sunset flip again at 2.9999. Turbo avoided a Shatter Machine before The Outrunners regrouped to hit Total Recall… only for Stoke to drag Floyd to the floor. Sneaky roll-up from Dax on a distracted Turbo, Harwood putting his feet on the ropes for leverage for the three-count.

The Opps (c) def. The Death Riders & Gabe Kidd - AEW World Trios Championships

Straight into an all-out brawl on the floor as Gabe Kidd and Katsuyori Shibata channeled Kobashi vs. Sasuke with a big chop battle in the middle of the ring. Huge Frankensteiner off the top by Mistico onto Mortos for two, before Ricochet got a two on Mistico from an SSP. 21 Plex on Bandido and Ricochet by Takeshita, as the action became frantic. Parade of finishers and nearfalls, before Ibushi came back in to lariat Mortos out of his hide. End of Heartache on Ibushi by Strong for two, but MJF broke things up and hit an Alabama Slam for 2.9999. Roddy fended off all combatants to lay alone in the ring as entrant 14 finally showed up - Max Caster. The ‘best wrestler alive’ had a mic in hand and a clipboard as the crowd joined in with his chant, only for Roddy to knee him off the apron before he could even enter the match. Strong and Briscoe met in the ring as Mark hit the Jay Driller, only for MJF to steal the pin and the win.

Dustin Rhodes def. Daniel Garcia, Kyle Fletcher, & Sammy Guevara - TNT Championship

Adam Cole came to the ring and fought back tears as he relinquished the TNT Championship before announcing he was dealing with health issues and would be gone a while, Cole mentioning that his issues were such that there is a chance the three-time ROH Champion could be forced to retire. Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly joined Cole in the ring as Cole laid the title down in the ring.

Third match in 24 hours for Rhodes and Guevara in this hastily thrown together four-way. Sammy and Garcia engaged in some dancing before getting levelled by Fletcher before Rhodes came in to let his fists do the talking. Guevara Spanish Fly off the apron onto Garcia as Fletcher got a one with a Michinoku Driver on Dustin. Stereo Figure Fours from Fletcher and Garcia on the Sons of Texas, but Rhodes and Sammy reversed the pressure as Garcia and Fletcher had a slap fight. Sammy Three Amigos but the Forg Splash missed as Garcia locked in the Dragon Tamer only for Fletcher to yoink Garcia out and hit an apron powerbomb. Fletcher disposed of Sammy before focusing on Dustin Rhodes, hitting the natural with two big boots before eating a huge Sammy Cutter. Garcia piledriver on Sammy, then a Dragon Tamer on Dustin. Dustin rolled through and got the 1-2-3 on Garcia out of nowhere as Sammy and Fletcher looked on stunned. Rhodes burst into tears as Texas erupted for the Grandson of a plumber.

Rhodes celebrated with his nephews and the Von Erichs as he hoisted his newly won title.

Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay def. The Young Bucks

Huge pyro laden Assassin’s Creed entrance for Will Ospreay, before Jojo Offerman took the stage to sing Rufus & Chaka Khan’s Ain’t Nobody before Swerve Strickland arrived flanked by Prince Nana. The Bucks came out and posed with pyro before riding to the ring on a sailboat to pipe music as Justin Roberts read another address as The Bucks again rode the wave as pioneering founding fathers.

The Bucks experience as a team shone early as they ran rings around Swerve and Ospreay, the faces having to regroup and talk tactics on the floor. Things soon kicked in, Ospreay hitting a Skytwister off of Swerve’s back as they started to find their footing. Assisted hurricanrana by the Bucks and the rope hung Senton on Ospreay. Another assisted Senton onto Ospreay but onto the floor this time. Swerve missed a Fosbury flop and ate a Superkick Party for his troubles as The Bucks proved why they are one of the greatest tag teams of all time.

Ospreay was isolated by the Jacksons but managed to hit a handspring moonsault kick and get the hot tag to Swerve who ran wild. Double hurricanranas by the faces and tandem vaulting body presses onto The Bucks. Huge cheers for Athena as she hit a pair of powerbombs on Mina then attacked everyone in sight inside or outside of the ring. Athena tombstone on the Queen for two as number ten Thunder Rosa ran to the ring to fight Athena once more. The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) (c) def. JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) & The Patriarchy (Christian Cage & Nick Wayne) - AEW World Tag Team Championships

FTR joined commentary for this one, before Smoke DZA and Westside Gunn rapped The Hurt Syndicate to the ring.

The champs took control from the jump, taking the fight to the floor as associate MJF caused chaos. Mike Bailey wriggled out of a Lashley delayed vertical suplex but still got flattened by Bobby, before crushing the Patriarchy with a tope. Stereo vaulting body presses by JetSpeed on the champs as the high flying tandem took control of the match… until Shelton Benjamin launched Kevin Knight facefirst into the steel steps. Mike Bailey ran wild with rapid fire kicks on Nick Wayne then a running Shooting Star Press for two before getting folded by a Shelton Benjamin clothesline. Mother Wayne slapped Cage, and as Nick went for a conchairto with FTR’s assistance Cope made his return with his big spiky bit of wood to make the save for his long time tag partner. Cope rushed the ring and cleared house, then grabbed a mic to tell Cage to ‘go find yourself’.

Toni Storm (c) def. Mercedes Moné - AEW Women’s World Championship

Texas cheerleaders, a lowrider, and a massive coat adorned with the names of all her fallen opponents for Moné’s entrance. Storm had a Twilight Zone inspired entrance video before being helped into the spotlight by Luther, Storm looking possibly more maniacal than ever if such a limit were to be reached. Big in-ring introductions by Justin Roberts for this one.

Duelling chants as the competitors locked up, somehow tussling all the way to the floor and back to the apron as Storm played some mind games. Counter wrestling as the action started, Mercedes quickly landing a crossface before getting spanked for her sins. CEO dance by Storm as Moné found herself firmly on the Backfoot. Luther shoulder ride for Storm as she threw Moné off the apron, but Mercedes recovered to crush the Butler with a Meteora as he assisted the champ on the floor. A pair of sunset bombs by Mercedes, then a powerbomb to the floor for good measure. Storm was firmly on the back foot as Moné took control, but the champ fired back with a Lou Thesz Press and a sky high for two.

Follow-up frogsplash got nothing but knees, as Storm fought back with a series of German suplexes and the corner hip attack into Storm Zero… for two. Storm with three Storm Zeros in the centre of the ring… but could only get a two count. Moné came close with a roll-up out of nowhere, then locked in an STF, transitioning into pin attempts and a Backstabber only for the champ to launch a corner hip attack out of nowhere. The two competitors jockeyed on the top rope, before Storm hit a gnarly Bret’s rope Storm Zero for the three count, becoming the first woman to defeat Mercedes Moné in AEW.

Kazuchika Okada def. Kenny Omega - AEW Unified Championship

Jim Ross made his AEW return to join the commentary booth for this one, great to see him back. Simply epic entrance for Omega, complete with hooded choir, flaming insignia, the works. Kota Ibushi in his corner for this one.

Hard chops to start as these old rivals felt each other out, Omega with the first big move with a vaulting body press to the floor. Omega missed a crossbody as Okada focused his attacks on Kenny’s weak midsection. Kenny went for You Can’t Escape but Okada got his knees up for the moonsault, then landed a big flapjack. Omega tried to get some momentum but got dropkicked to the floor as Okada took firm control. Don Callis cheapshots left Kenny wide open for Okada to hit a big DDT into the announce table. Omega beat the referee’s standing 10 count only to roll straight into a stiff Okada DDT in ring. Okada wound Omega up with mocking kicks then teed off on Kenny, only to receive some stiff chops for his troubles. Snap frankensteiner by Omega and the Terminator tope, then a big missile dropkick to Okada’s back in the ring. FU by Okada, but as he went up top Omega was on hand to dish out yet more chops then landed a big leg clutch superplex, Omega deadlifting the Rainmaker.

Okada faked a Rainmaker and kneed Omega in the gut, before hitting a standing lariat. Omega powerbomb into a V Trigger for two, then another V Trigger for another two. Avalanche Dragon Suplex by Omega got a big reaction, then a follow-up V Trigger but One Winged Angel was avoided as Okada hit That’s Incredible and a huge discuss lariat. Rainmaker avoided, as Omega followed with Croyt’s Wrath for two. Rocky Romero hopped on the apron but was sent packing by Ibushi. Okada was distracted by Don Callis but avoided a Rainmaker to hit a V Trigger and One Winged Angel… as Callis pulled out referee Bryce Remsburg and stamped on his neck. Aubrey Edwards ran in to officiate as Omega hit another V Trigger, but OWA was reversed into a Rainmaker for two. Yay/boo strike exchange, but a Rainmaker was countered into a roll up for two. Rainmaker landed for the 1-2-3 as Kazuchika Okada downed Omega to become the inaugural AEW Unified Champion

Hangman Page def. Jon Moxley (c) - AEW World Championship Texas Deathmatch

Lovely whistling entrance and a return to his OG theme for Hangman Page, as Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir rode to the arena in a big mean looking truck. Big in-ring introductions once more from Justin Roberts.

Strike exchange to start off, Page unloading on Mox in the corner like he owed him money. Page went full Abdullah the Butcher by stabbing the absolute hell out of Moxley’s forehead, the champ simply pissing blood from his head. Mox fired back by wrapping barbed wire around Page’s face as Shafir dove in to bite the former champ - five minutes in and both men are bleeding heavily. Mox grabbed a barbed wire wrapped chair and slammed Page back first onto it then mounted and pummelled the challenger. Page went to swing the barbed chair at Mox but missed, as the champ booted the weapon into his face before setting a table up at ringside. Moxley cutter out of nowhere as Marina produced a bucket of broken glass which Mox emptied on the canvas. Mox rubbed some of the glass into Page’s face, then dragged the challenger through the glass and hit a piledriver into the debris.

A spirited Page fired back with slaps but ate another piledriver as Shafir slid two more chairs into the ring. Mox set them up and took Page up top, Hangman fired back with headbutts, but Mox raked barbed wire on his back as the challenger fell into the chairs before arranging them back to back and powerbombing an unaware Moxley into the weapons. Page wrapped his arm in barbed wire and hit a series of roaring elbows as Wheeler Yuta ran in to hit him with a chair… then eat a roaring elbow for good measure. Angel’s Wings by Page but as he readied for the Buckshot Marina jumped on his back only for the challenger to hit a Spicolli Driver off the apron through a table. Back in ring Page hit the Deadeye into the broken glass as Claudio Castagnoli ran in to rush the challenger and pepper him with elbows. Yuta took the fight to the floor as Claudio grabbed another table, as Will Ospreay ran down for a fight only for Gabe Kidd to join and hit a piledriver on Ospreay on the floor. Claudio with a Pillmaniser to Ospreay’s neck just like Samoa Joe earlier tonight.

As officials tended to Ospreay, Page and Mox jockeyed on the apron in front of two barbed wire tables on the floor, Mox locking in a choke then hitting a vertical suplex through the barbed wire wood. Both men narrowly beat the referee’s ten count then teed off on one another in ring once more driven by fury and adrenaline. Big Moxley lariat and a Gotch Style Piledriver into a Bulldog choke, Hangman again barely beating the ten count. Death Rider into an upright steel chair, Page again up at nine. Yuta gave Mox a plastic bag as a video aired from the top of Mount Everest as Darby Allin said he was coming to take everything from Moxley. Out of nowhere Bryan Danielson in a Blue Panther mask arrived to crush Yuta with a busaiku knee then kicked seven shades out of Kidd and Claudio as Darby Allin rappelled down from the rafters just like Sting. Mox was stunned as Hangman hit a Buckshot as Darby crushed the Death Riders with a Coffin Drop. Another Buckshot Lariat then a Deadeye from the apron through a table, but Marina Shafir helped Mox to his feet. The Young Bucks arrived in ring to throw Page a superkick party then hit the EVP Trigger to their former ally. Mox and Shafir produced a bed of nails, Mox hit a stomp and a Paradigm Shift into the nails. Miraculously Hangman again beat the count at nine as Mox looked exasperated.

Moxley demanded the briefcase key from Marina Shafir, but as she went to retrieve the case from the timekeeper’s table she got handcuffed in place by Prince Nana as Swerve Strickland arrived with Hangman’s Chain to level The Young Bucks then handed the chain to his nemesis, Page punching Mox with the chain then wrapping it around Mox’s neck before Buckshot Lariating Mox into the bed of nails. Page wrapped the champ’s neck with the chain then hanged him over the top rope as a frenzied frightened Mox tapped out.

Texas erupted. The reign of The Death Riders is over, and with Swerve Strickland smiling with admiration and respect, a crying Hangman Page unlocked the case to finally free the AEW World Championship and raise it high in the air.
