AEW Announces Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament

Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament announced by AEW

All Elite Wrestling love a tournament, and ahead of their return to New York City's Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 20, a tournament will take place with the winner facing AEW World Champion MJF for the title at AEW Grand Slam III.

The eight-man tournament was announced during the August 30 broadcast of AEW Dynamite, and the tourney itself will start on the post-All Out Dynamite on September 6.

No entrants have been formally announced for the tournament at the time of writing, but Roderick Strong has already declared his intention to not only enter it, but win it, with the former ROH World Champion stating his aims to former teammate Adam Cole.

Strong attempted to help Adam Cole during his match against MJF for the title at All In, but his assistance was rebuffed, causing further fractures in his relationship with Cole.

MJF is not set to defend the ‘Triple B’ at All Out, with the champ set to team with Adam Cole for their first defence of their newly won ROH World Tag Team Championships against as yet unannounced opponents.
