Further details around Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize walking out of the November 8 episode of AEW Collision have been revealed.
It emerged following Collision on Saturday night that Newell and Alize were booked for a three-minute match against Tay Melo and Anna Jay, but Newell and Alize didn't want to do the match if it was only three minutes long as they didn't believe such a short match would benefit anyone. After making their views clear, Newell and Alize were told they were free to leave, at which point they went to a local bar.
The dispute came after there had reportedly already been issues with the tag team in their debut AEW match, with Megan Bayne said to have been frustrated by a lack of cooperation from her opponents, in particular a double German suplex spot where Newell and Alize didn't jump.
In an update on the situation, it was claimed to Fightful Select that even Bryan Danielson spoke with Newell and Alize, and he wasn't thrilled about how their match went on November 1. Newell has denied this, however, claiming neither she nor Alize have ever met Danielson in person.
The backstage reaction within AEW/ROH has not been positive to Alize and Newell, with a number of women expressing their frustration to Fightful, noting they would have loved for even three minutes on Collision.
People within AEW also noted that the situation likely wouldn't have leaked if Miranda Alize hadn't tweeted, "We have SOOOOOOOO much to say ……………" before Collision even went on the air, and then retweeted criticism of her and Newell's booking by the promotion.
Newell and Miranda Alize have stated there was no bad blood between themselves and AEW, but reports have already disputed that, and the expectation is they won't be booked by All Elite Wrestling again. Fightful also noted that the common belief within AEW is that if things ended smoothly, they were no longer that way after Alize took to social media.
Nixon Newell previously performed in WWE as Tegan Nox until her release in late 2024. Newell noted earlier this year that she had received a "severe lack of bookings" since her release, and Fightful reported that she held talks with a company after her comments but the promotion soured on booking Newell because of some of her requests.
