AEW Change How They Announce PPVs Over WWE Tactic
AEW makes change after WWE tactic
Jan 17, 2025
All Elite Wrestling have made a change to how they announce pay-per-view dates and locations because of WWE.
AEW outlined much of their pay-per-view calendar for 2024 months in advance, with the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 28 in Orlando, Florida being officially announced eight months before the show took place. WWE ultimately decided to go head-to-head with AEW in Orlando, running a house show in the city at the same time as Worlds End.
WWE deciding to go head-to-head with AEW in Orlando has led to All Elite Wrestling trying to keep their pay-per-view dates under wraps, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
WWE ultimately drew more fans to their house show than AEW did to Worlds End, with WWE booking the bigger arena in Orlando. AEW Worlds End was still very close to a sell-out, however, and it was ultimately considered a successful night of pro wrestling for both promotions.
While AEW are looking to keep their pay-per-view dates under wraps, one of the few major events they have made official in All In Texas will be going head-to-head with WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.
AEW Double or Nothing is also expected to take place on Sunday, May 25, while another edition of Saturday Night's Main Event is planned for May 24.
