AEW-CMLL Working Relationship Struck By Major Issues

Some of CMLL's top stars might not be on AEW TV for a while

All Elite Wrestling's burgeoning partnershipwith CMLL looks to have hit a major roadblock.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that United States work visas for 19 of CMLL's luchadors are in the process of being cancelled by the United States government. This would prevent these CMLL talents from working in the US for months while they reapply for the visas. Luchadors having their visas cancelled include Volador Jr, Hechicero, Mascara Dorada, Blue Panther, Dulce Gardenia, El Sagrado, El Suicida, Electrico, Espiritu Negro, Euforia, Fugaz, Gemelo Diablo 1 and 2, Magico, Robin, Sangre Imperial, Soberano, Templario, and the referee Sagaz.

The likes of Volador Jr, Hechicero, and Mascara Dorada have worked on AEW TV in recent months in a programme with Blackpool Combat Club.

The issues have arisen following conflict between Full Blown Pro Wrestling (an indy promotion in Texas) and CMLL management during the visa process. Full Blown Pro Wrestling sponsored the group visas for the CMLL wrestlers but there were issues as CMLL head Salvador Lutterorth put an employee who has since left the promotion in charge of the process on CMLL's side.

The United States Department of Homeland Security ended up contacting Jerry Cadena, the promoter of Full Blown Pro Wrestling, about the visas and informed him he could be accused of fraud due to the issues over the visas. Cadena then got in touch with CMLL about solving the issues but CMLL said they would take care of it through the US embassy in Mexico. CMLL believe they will be able to handle the issue as a family member works for the embassy.

As CMLL and Cadena have stopped communicating, however, the promoter has informed the US government he no longer plans to work with CMLL and any agreements he signed to work with their talents have now been terminated.

This all means that CMLL talents will likely be unable to travel to the United States until new work visas are sorted.
