AEW: Dynamite Results - August 18 2021: The Final Labour Of Jericho

Plus Sting’s first match on TNT since 2001

AEW Dynamite was live once again, taking place from Houston, Texas, and the big talking point going in was Sting’s first match on TNT since the last night of WCW in 2001.

Sting teamed with protege Darby Allin once more, taking on 2.0 in a Texas Tornado Tag Match. Before the match started, Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley made their way through the crowd, but were jumped by 2.0 and Daniel Garcia who beat down Mox and Eddie. Sting and Darby made their way out and we had good old fashioned brawl. The action spilled through the crowd, with Darby hitting a customary daredevil dive, but 2.0 were in control, nailing Darby with a double suplex onto his skateboard - truck-side up. 2.0 then took Sting for a ride, powerbombing the icon through a table in the ring, but the Stinger hopped straight back up, nailed a double Scorpion Death Drop, then finished off 2.0 with a double Scorpion Deathlock for the win.

Chris Jericho finally faced MJF in the final Labours of Jericho, with the Texas crowd singing Jericho to the ring. Jericho couldn’t use the Judas Effect at all, and to make sure he didn’t even try, MJF focused all his anger on Jericho’s notoriously bad arm. Jericho would fight back time and again, even using Floyd the bat while the ref was distracted, but MJF had done enough damage to the arm, getting the win with the Salt of the Earth.

The AEW Tag Team Titles were on the line as The Young Bucks took on Jurassic Express. The Bucks did everything in their power to keep Jungle Boy isolated from Luchasaurus, whilst Kenny Omega caused chaos at ringside by blasting Marko Stunt with a chair. IMPACT World Champion Christian Cage ran out to brawl with Kenny, as Young Bucks hit BTE Trigger on Jungle Boy for the win. Post-match the Super Elite beat down the babyfaces, and Omega planted Cage with a One Winged Angel.

It was later announced that there will be a four-team eliminator tournament, with The Lucha Bros, Jurassic Express, Private Party and The Varsity Blonds battling for an opportunity to face The Young Bucks in a cage match at All Out.

Elsewhere, Sammy Guevara defeated Shawn Spears and celebrated with his new fiancée, Dan Lambert returned flanked by Andrei Arlovski and Junior dos Santos before The Men of the Year jumped Lance Archer, Paul Wight challenged QT Marshall at All Out, and PAC vs. Andrade is official for the PPV.
