AEW: Dynamite Results - September 1 2021

The last Dynamite before All Out

AEW returned to Chicago with the first of three Chi-town shows, culminating with All Out on Sunday.

And it wouldn’t be a Chicago show without the Second City Saint, as CM Punk cut another promo ahead of his long awaited in-ring return against Darby Allin on Sunday. Punk talked his nerves and fears ahead of his first match in seven years, before being jumped by Daniel Garcia and 2point0. Allin and Sting made the save, culminating with Punk hitting the GTS to a huge ovation. As Punk and Darby went head-to-head, Stinger took the mic, paid his respects to Punk, before saying it’s going to be showtime when the two eventually clash.

Chris Jericho sat down with Jim Ross ahead of his showdown with MJF at All Out, with Jericho’s in-ring career on the line. Jericho reflected on his past in wrestling, and praised how far AEW has come after 100 episodes of Dynamite. Jericho changed tact, calling MJF ‘a piece of s***’ and said that Friedman will have to bring his best if he hopes to hang with Jericho one last time, and even then it won’t be enough to seal the deal.

MJF cut a promo of his own on Jericho, telling Tony Schiavone that although Jericho is on the Mount Rushmore of Wrestling, when MJF’s career finishes he’ll take Jericho’s place. MJF said he’ll have the honour and privilege of ending Jericho’s run at All Out.

Dr. Britt Baker teased the a massive signing for AEW… herself, with the AEW Women’s World Champion committing her future to AEW. Baker also announced that Reba and Jamie Hayter would be in the Women’s Casino Battle Royale at All Out.

In our main event, The Super Elite’s Young Bucks and Good Brothers defeated Jurassic Express and The Lucha Bros, before Kenny Omega came to the ring to help dish out a beating, with Gallows and Anderson driving Luchasaurus through a table with a Magic Killer amongst the carnage. Christian Cage came out to make a save, but it was a trap, as the number one contender ate a seven-on-one beating, as Don Callis lowered a steel cage around the ring. The Lucha Bros tried to even the odds but got battered, as the cage kept Jurassic Express on the outside. Will Cage get his revenge at Rampage?

Elsewhere, Orange Cassidy defeated Jack Evans picture-in-picture. Santana and Ortiz gave a returning FTR their second AEW tag loss ever. Eddie Kingston vowed to go after Miro’s neck at All Out. Gunn Club turned heel after blasting Paul Wight with a chair. And Anna Jay returned to save Tay Conti from a beating at the hands of Penelope Ford and The Bunny.

Full results:

  • Proud & Powerful def. FTR
  • Orange Cassidy def. Jack Evans
  • Powerhouse Hobbs def. Brian Cage
