AEW Files Trademarks For Possible New Event

AEW WrestleBowl coming soon?

A new event from All Elite Wrestling could be on the way in 2023.

The promotion filed to trademark "WrestleBowl" and "Wrestling Bowl" with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on December 19. Both terms were registered for "conducting entertainment exhibitions in the nature of wrestling exhibits and performances by professional wrestlers."

If "WrestleBowl" or "Wrestling Bowl" will be used for a new AEW pay-per-view or a TV special is currently unknown. World Championship Wrestling previously hosted the BattleBowl pay-per-view back in November 1993 so AEW could be trademarking the terms for a similar show.

BattleBowl was a one-time pay-per-view from WCW that saw eight random tag teams face off throughout the night to earn a spot in the BattleBowl Battle Royal main event. The 16-man Battle Royal was ultimately won by WCW World Heavyweight Champion Vader. WCW had already used the concept of a lethal lottery tag team tournament twice at Starrcade 1991 and 1992 and the idea was used one more time at Slamboree 1996.
