Suzuki-Gun Bid Farewell In Final Match As A Faction

Suzuki-gun is no more

Suzuki-gun had their final bow in the main event of NJPW's last Road To Tokyo Dome show before Wrestle Kingdom 17 as Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer, TAKA Michinoku, and El Desperado faced off with their faction-mates Zack Sabre Jr., Taichi, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and DOUKI.

After an emotional battle, the match descended into a free for all as Suzuki invited the rest of Suzuki-gun to take him down. This led to an Iron Finger punch from Taichi and the rest of the faction hit their own moves on The King of Pro Wrestling before Zack Sabre Jr. put his mentor away with the Zack Driver, saying "Thank you Suzuki" as the referee counted the 1-2-3.

Following the match, each member of Suzuki-gun gave a final address and Minoru Suzuki went last, quashing any retirement speculation as he made it clear he is still aiming to become IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Takashi Iizuka then made a surprise appearance, charging through the crowd like a crazed animal to reclaim the iron fingers.

Suzuki-gun then celebrated as many in the audience tried to hold back tears.

With today's match having ended, Suzuki-gun is officially no more after initially forming in April 2011. While they would not claim the IWGP Heavyweight/IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, the stable enjoyed considerable success together, holding almost every title NJPW have to offer. They also dominated Pro Wrestling NOAH in 2015 and 2016, during which Minoru Suzuki reigned as GHC Heavyweight Champion.
