New Japan Pro-Wrestling have announced the closure of their United States subsidiary, with NJPW of America officially ceasing operations and entering liquidation.

NJPW wrote:

"New Japan Pro-Wrestling hereby announces that subsidiary New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America Inc will cease operations and enter liquidation.
"As NJPW continues to optimize allocation of management resources in a rapidly changing business environment, the decision was made to close the subsidiary, which was founded in 2019.
"Moving forward, NJPW events in North America will continue to be held with the full backing and resources of the TV Asahi group, as part of a new chapter in NJPW's ongoing global expansion."

NJPW of America was launched in 2019 as part of New Japan's expansion in the United States, with the organisation based in California. This came towards the end of NJPW's rise in popularity in the United States in the 2010s, with the company already holding regular events in the US, while the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship was established in 2017 and the LA dojo was founded in 2018.

As part of NJPW of America, the promotion launched NJPW STRONG in 2020, a weekly series taped in the United States, and the brand gradually introduced their own set of titles in the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship, NJPW STRONG Tag Team Titles, and NJPW STRONG Women's Championship.

Major NJPW STRONG events would also be held in the United States and those events continued to take place until Resurgence on May 9, 2025, with the STRONG weekly series having already been stopped in 2023. The belts remain active, however.

The shuttering of NJPW of America comes after NJPW changed owners in June of 2026, with Bushiroad selling their majority stake to CyberAgent and TV Asahi. The television company were already minority owners but they expanded their stake in NJPW to 46.3 per cent, with CyberAgent also owning 46.3 per cent.
