AEW Hypes Nick Wayne's Dynamite Debut

Nick Wayne’s upcoming debut hyped by AEW

Teenage wrestling sensation Nick Wayne is finally set to make his All Elite Wrestling debut on July 12, with the former DEFY World Champion set to face old foe Swerve Strickland in singles action.

On the July 5 edition of AEW Dynamite, AEW ran a vignette to hype up Wayne’s impending debut, showing footage from Wayne’s time in DEFY, as well as explaining the relationship between the young star and Darby Allin.

Wayne was signed to an AEW deal in February 2022, but had to wait until he turned 18 to officially join the roster. Wayne was presented with his AEW contract by long-time friend Darby Allin, with Allin having trained under Wayne’s deceased father Buddy Wayne. After Buddy Wayne passed in 2017, Darby took it upon himself to watch over Nick Wayne and help guide him forwards.

Despite his young age, Nick Wayne has been competing since Spring 2018, and has wrestled for the likes of DEFY, GCW, PROGRESS, and DDT Pro in the past year alone. As for Swerve Strickland, The Mogul Embassy member will be looking for revenge after Wayne defeated him for the DEFY World Championship back in April 2023.
