AEW Music Head Knew The New Collision Theme Would Be 'Universally Hated'

There was a sudden change made to AEW Collision on the July 20 episode as the show began with a new theme song, 'Red Light Is On (Let's Go)' by AEW's in-house music team headed up by Mikey Rukus.

The change was met with unhappiness on social media, particularly as the new song replaced the very popular 'Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)' by Elton John which had been the theme music for Collision since the show premiered in June 2023.

Mikey Rukus knew the change wouldn't be well received, he admitted on social media. Regardless, AEW won't be changing the theme music back to Elton John.

"Hey guys. Its ok. I knew it would be universally hated. There's no such thing as an upgrade from Elton. Change is inevitable. We tried something different with the college/gogo cadence. I knew many wouldn't [sic] get it. Again, it's ok. I'm happy with it, my team is happy with it. It's not changing," Rukus wrote on X.

The July 20 episode of Collision kicked off the show's Summer residency at Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas. AEW Collision and Ring of Honor will be taped from the arena until August 17.

The show featured new champions being crowned as The Patriarchy defeated the Bang Bang Gang's Juice Robinson and The Gunns to win the AEW Unified Trios Titles.
