AEW Officially Signs Serena Deeb

The women's division continues to grow...

Following a well-received match with NWA Women's champion Thunder Rosa on the September 2 episode of AEW Dynamite, Serena Deeb has officially signed with the promotion.

AEW tweeted out the standard graphic for new signings on Monday, captioned with, "Welcome to the team. Serena Deeb is #AllElite"

A little more than a week ago, Chris Jericho stated during a Talk is Jericho interview with Rosa that he believed Deeb had been signed by the company, but that wasn't confirmed at the time.

The 34-year-old Deeb is a 15-year veteran, and is known to many WWE fans simply as Serena, a follower of CM Punk's Straight Edge Society that wilfully sacrificed her hair to prove her allegiance to the group. After eight months on the SmackDown brand, Deeb was released from WWE later in 2010.

As a wrestler, Deeb has competed extensively for promotions such as Shimmer, Ohio Valley Wrestling, and Japanese promotion SMASH, among others.

Deeb's final bouts before the match with Rosa came in the 2017 WWE Mae Young Classic. There, she defeated Vanessa Borne in the opening round, before later losing to Piper Niven. She later coached at WWE's Performance Center from early 2018 to when she was released this past April, as part of the mass COVID-related cuts.
