AEW Rampage Passes WCW Thunder For Number Of Episodes

AEW Rampage moves past WCW Thunder

All Elite Wrestling have secured a new milestone.

With AEW Rampage airing on Friday, August 9, All Elite Wrestling's secondary show surpassed WCW Thunder for the number of episodes. 157 episodes of AEW Rampage have now aired on TNT, while 156 editions of WCW Thunder aired before World Championship Wrestling was purchased by WWE.

AEW Rampage has been on the air since August 2021 and the show had a hot start with the debut episode featuring Christian Cage's IMPACT World Title win against Kenny Omega. The second episode, 'The First Dance', was built around the pro wrestling return of CM Punk. AEW Rampage's importance has dramatically fallen since then and it is firmly AEW's C show behind Dynamite and Collision.

Following the success of Monday Nitro, WCW Thunder premiered in January 1998, initially airing on Thursday nights before moving to Wednesdays. The show was cancelled after WCW was sold to WWE.

The next WCW-related milestone for All Elite Wrestling will be AEW Dynamite surpassing WCW Monday Nitro. AEW Dynamite currently has 253 episodes, while Nitro reached 288 episodes before the final show on March 26, 2001.
