AEW’s Bryan Danielson Wants To Face NJPW’s Zack Sabre Jr. In England
Danielson wants to win back ‘The Bryan Danielson Wrestling Observer Award’
Now Bryan Danielson is out of the WWE, he has a literal who’s who of pro wrestling waiting for a chance to take on The American Dragon. But Danielson has his own personal list of matches in mind, including a match with Zack Sabre Jr.
In a conversation with Brandon Walker of Barstool Wrasslin’, Danielson said he wants to wrestle ZSJ to win back the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Best technical Wrestler award, aka The Bryan Danielson award:
“So one of the things I want outside of AEW, and I want to do this in England because he’s English, I want to wrestle Zack Sabre Jr. in England,” started Danielson “So [laughs] there’s the most well known wrestling journal - The Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer - and after I was forced to retire he renamed the ‘Best Technical Wrestler’ award the ‘Bryan Danielson’ award because I won it so many times in a row. And now Zack Sabre Jr. has won it like seven years in a row, and some of those years I was in forced retirement, but even since I’ve come back he’s still winning the best technical wrestler award that’s named after me! I’m number two in my own award! So now I want a match with him in England… somehow a Zack Sabre Jr. is winning the Bryan Danielson award.”
Danielson and ZSJ have only wrestled twice, with one win apiece in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
