AEW's Chris Jericho Teases WWE Return

‘Le Champion’ was reflecting on the ‘Festival of Friendship’

It still stands as one of the great WWE segments of recent years, the fateful ‘Festival of Friendship’ where Kevin Owens turned on Chris Jericho after Jericho had showered his best friend with praise and lavish gifts.

With Sunday February 13 being the fifth anniversary of the legendary segment, Kevin Owens took to Twitter to change his profile picture of his heinous attack on Jericho, prompting Jericho to respond:

“I haven’t forgotten Owens….you never know when you’ll see me again.”

Despite the angle earning rave reviews and setting up an obvious Universal Title clash between the two men at WrestleMania 33, WWE instead changed tact, giving Goldberg the Universal Title and relegating Jericho and Owens to a mid-card US Title match instead, one which Vince McMahon reportedly did not like.

If and when Jericho and Owens do clash again, there’s no indication on where it would take place. Whilst Jericho likes to tease and keep audiences guessing, a WWE return for the former Y2J is as plausible as it is unlikely, with Jericho ‘all in’ with AEW. Likewise, late in 2021 it seemed nailed on that Owens would leave WWE when his deal expired to join AEW, but KO instead inked a new multi-year deal with the company, and is positioned as one of the company’s top stars.
