AEW's CM Punk Calls Out Fan Who Said He'd Eat His Shoes If Punk Returned

Will shoes be eaten?

CM Punk briefly called out a fan who promised to eat their shoes if The Second City Saviour returned to professional wrestling.

There were loud chants for Punk during WWE's Money In The Bank pay-per-view on July 19 and fan Adam Barnard promised to eat his shoes if Punk returned to wrestling, tweeting: "These fans chanting CM Punk. Please stop. He's not coming back. I'll eat my shoes live on here if he does."

Barnard couldn't have had worse timing, though, as reports noted only two days later on July 21 that Punk was in talks with All Elite Wrestling about a return to the ring. The 42-year-old would then return to wrestling on August 20 at AEW Rampage: The First Dance and he competed in his first match in seven years at All Out against Darby Allin.

Punk didn't immediately respond to Barnard upon his return but the former WWE Champion tweeted a screengrab of Barnard's comments on Tuesday with the caption: "It is time to address this." Punk deleted the tweet soon after, though.

While Punk may not still want the fan to eat his shoes, Barnard seems to be up for it as he tweeted an image of a pair of New Balance Trainers on a plate with the caption: "Gym Shoes, lightly salted, roasted at 450°. Deal's a deal, Punk, let's do this."

If Punk will reassert that Barnard needs to eat his shoes remains to be seen.
