AEW's Kenny Omega: "WWE Is Desperate"

Kayfabe Kenny speaks...

Kenny Omega believes WWE are "desperate" and The Best Bout Machine pointed to the company's use of legends as evidence.

Speaking to Tokyo Sports, an outlet with mostly kayfabe interviews, about the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on wrestling, Omega said: "At the start, there was a huge gap between WWE and AEW. (AEW) was just some fledgling promotion after all. But have you realised how the tables have turned? WWE is desperate. They keep bringing back legends every other week. COVID is a terrible thing, and we never wanted it to happen but it is what it is."

Omega would comment further on WWE later in the interview and the AEW World Champion believes 90 percent of WWE talent would want to join Tony Khan's promotion.

"There will definitely be a lot more of them coming over in the future. I feel that about 90% of the wrestlers in WWE would want to jump over to AEW," Omega added.

While there was a big gap in the ratings between AEW Dynamite and Monday Night Raw when the AEW show debuted in October 2019, that gap has closed in recent months and AEW beat Raw in the key 18-49 demographic for two weeks in September.
