AEW’s Trent has had a 2021 to forget. After being out from December 2020 to March with a torn pectoral muscle, The Best Friends star triumphantly returned during the Arcade Anarchy match on March 25,  and wrestled a handful of matches, with his last being in April against Penta el Zero M.

Speaking with Stephanie Chase, Trent revealed that he recently underwent neck fusion surgery:

"It's been like two weeks and I feel great, but I know that in between my vertebrae, I like don't have bones or anything. It's kind of just dust waiting to grow into bone. It doesn't feel like anything, but it's going to be a while before I come back. Surgery-wise, it was way easier than I expected. I feel good,”

Neck fusion surgery is a complicated and intense procedure, with wrestlers such as WWE Hall of Famer Edge having undergone the procedure.

As of yet there is no timetable on Trent’s return to action, with stablemates Chuckie T, Orange Cassidy, and Kris Statlander taking care of business whilst Trent recuperates.
