AEW Tag Team Ruled Out Due To Injury

AEW tag team out of action

Why an All Elite Wrestling tag team has been off TV has been revealed.

Anthony Henry, one-half of the WorkHorsemen, announced that his tag team partner, JD Drake, sustained a torn ligament in his foot back in May but they will be back in action soon enough.

Accidentally tagging Canadian rapper Drake, Anthony Henry tweeted: "For those wondering... the #workhorsemen will be back soon enough. Our first match back on Collision, @RealDrake, unfortunately tore a ligament in his foot. 2024 hasn't been kind to us."

JD Drake suffered the injury at the May 30 taping of Collision where he and Anthony Henry teamed together in a loss to Daniel Garcia and Katsuyori Shibata. The injury occurred only two weeks after Anthony Henry returned from his own injury, a broken jaw that he sustained during an independent wrestling match with his AEW colleague Bryan Keith in March.

Henry was then released by All Elite Wrestling on April 1 before Tony Khan changed his mind and announced Henry would, in fact, be back in AEW and Ring of Honor when he recovered from the broken jaw.

Henry has continued to be booked in JD Drake's absence. He lost a quick match to Kyle O'Reilly on the July 15 edition of Collision and he has competed in multi-man matches on ROH TV on HonorClub.

AEW Collision is seemingly cursed at the moment. In July alone, Jay White, Skye Blue, and Killswitch have all sustained injuries on the Saturday night show.
