AEW’s first foray into the New York market is off to a flying start, with the Dynamite Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe stadium exceeding AEW’s expectations sales wise.

A report from PWInsider states that AEW is opening up more sections of Arthur Ashe Stadium that weren’t originally intended to be utilised as they will be behind the entrance stage. Due to the unexpected demand for tickets, it makes business sense to open up as many seats as possible, with the final capacity possibly reaching the 19,000 mark.

So far AEW has sold around 16,000 tickets for the September 22 event, and two months ahead of the event it is set to be the largest crowd in AEW history.

The report also states that AEW want to accommodate as many fans as possible all the way until the day of the show, and that AEW are understandably thrilled with the response thus far, as not only are they in a new market, they haven’t executed a heavy marketing push in the local New York markets for ticket sales purposes.
