AEW Vice President Leaving The Company

VP of Live Events & Touring is departing from AEW

One of the names who was in AEW since the promotion was founded will be leaving the company following the upcoming Worlds End PPV on December 30. Vice President of Live Events/Touring Rafael Morfi, who was in charge of many aspects of live events including marketing, booking venues, and much more, will be parting ways with AEW after four years.

Per PWInsider, Morfi informed AEW over the last couple of weeks after being offered a senior executive role at the Barclays Center in New York. It is noted in the report that he will be splitting his duties between booking sports and entertainment events at the arena as well as working for the Brooklyn Nets' owners.   One of the reasons for the move was the ability for Morfi to remain closer to family in NYC and not be on the road constantly.  It was basically seen as such an amazing offer, there was no way he could pass on the opportunity.  Internally, he will be missed and was well liked and respected.”

Morfi has been in the professional wrestling business for many years, previously working for both WWE and TNA in the past. It is also stated that he was integral to AEW’s “Grand Slam” series, keeping tapings afloat within the pandemic, and heading up the marketing for the hugely successful All In 2023 show.
