NXT Wrestler To Compete For The AJPW Triple Crown Championship

An NXT superstar will make the trip to AJPW

It is a very rare instance when a WWE contracted superstar makes an in-ring appearance outside of the company. For instance, it was a big deal early on in 2023 when Shinsuke Nakamura went over to Pro Wrestling NOAH to take on The Great Muta, and when Karl Anderson competed at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17.

It seems as though that under the ruling of Triple H, he is a little more open to allowing some select talents to compete elsewhere, whether that be to make friends with other promotions, or giving his wrestlers the chance to do something different. On January 3, 2024, a wrestler from NXT will compete for the AJPW Triple Crown Championship, in a surprising announcement made by AJPW.

For a while, the next challenger for the title at the upcoming New Year Giant Series has been hyped up as a big mystery, and it was finally revealed that it would be someone from NXT, though they have yet to be revealed. It could be anyone from NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov to Baron Corbin to Charlie Dempsey, but it will still be a big deal for whoever makes the trip to Japan.
