AJ Styles Questions WWE Releases Of The New Day & Motor City Machine Guns

WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles has questioned the company's decision to release The New Day and The Motor City Machine Guns.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) agreed to leave WWE in May after rejecting restructured contracts, while The Motor City Machine Guns were let go as part of mass releases following WrestleMania 42 in April.

Discussing the departures of the two teams on his new AJ Styles Show podcast, 'The Phenomenal One' said:

"I have so much respect for these two tag teams and know what they're capable of. Man, I don't know if it was the smartest decision letting those two tag teams go. Don’t know. I can tell you, I wouldn't bet that it was the smartest decision.

"And I am, I am biased. Two guys that I’ve known forever in Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. And then Austin Creed (Xavier Woods), who I've literally known for over two decades. Like, we go way back. And Kofi's such an awesome dude".

The MCMG recently signed with AEW, while Woods and Kingston are expected to sign with Tony Khan's promotion.

Since retiring from in-ring competition, Styles has been working for WWE in a scouting capacity.
