Alberto Del Rio To Fight Tito Ortiz At Combate Americas PPV In December

Del Rio's return to MMA...

Former WWE and Impact Wrestling champion Alberto Del Rio returns to the world of mixed martial arts, where he will square off with one of the most famed and successful fighters in the history of the sport.

It was announced on Ariel Helwani's ESPN show that Del Rio is officially set to face 44-year-old Tito Ortiz in the main event of Combate Americas' debut pay-per-view on December 7 in Hidalgo, TX.

The fight will be fought at a 210 pound catchweight, and is expected to cost $39.99

The 42-year-old Del Rio, a trained amateur wrestler and former Olympic hopeful, amassed a record of nine wins and five losses during an MMA career that spanned from 2001 through early 2010.

In his most notable fight, Del Rio (fighting under a mask) was knocked out by Mirko Cro Cop in 46 seconds following a head kick, at Pride Bushido 1 in Saitama, Japan in October 2003.

Del Rio and Ortiz had a rather bizarre and awkward confrontation in August (NSFW language at this link) to set the fight up.
