Alexa Bliss Details Chaotic Last-Minute Plans To Return At WWE Royal Rumble

Alexa Bliss has confirmed that plans for her WWE return at the 2025 Royal Rumble didn't come together until just 18 hours before the show began.

Appearing on The Nikki & Brie Show, Bliss revealed plans for her to appear on WWE TV for the first time in two years weren't finalised until 4 am, at which point Bliss had to rush to get packed.

"I got the call at midnight the night before and it wasn't fully decided until like 4 am. And I get a call at five, they're like, 'Alright, we need you on a plane by 10 am. So no one would see me, I flew to Cincinnati, drove in, had to cover up, got snuck into a back room. I didn’t get there until four, we are the first match starting at six," Bliss said.

Plans for Bliss to appear in the Rumble came together at such a late stage that Shotzi Blackheart was already planned for the former Raw Women's Champion's spot in the match, with Shotzi finding out that she wasn't going to be in the Rumble while she was in the makeup chair.

Shotzi noted in June during an appearance on Unwrapped that Bliss apologised over her Rumble plans being scrapped.

"Honestly, if you're going to take me out for anyone, at least make it be the biggest pop for the night. I have to say, Alexa had no idea someone was getting replaced. She had no idea any of that was going on. She felt so bad and she came up to me after and was like, 'Oh my God, I'm so sorry. I didn't even realise they were taking someone out to get me in,'" Shotzi said.

Plans were originally in place for Alexa Bliss to make her return on the January 13 episode of SmackDown, but those plans were scrapped due to a contract stand-off between WWE and Bliss which was only resolved in the days leading up to the Rumble.
