Andrade El Idolo Wanted To Work With Vickie Guerrero In AEW

Andrade wanted to make the connection

Andrade El Idolo wanted to work with Vickie Guerrero in All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan has revealed.

The former IWGP Intercontinental Champion made his AEW debut on June 4 and immediately aligned with Vickie. The duo would then continue working together over the next month, but Chavo Guerrero was introduced as El Idolo's executive advisor on July 21, removing Vickie from the equation in the process.

Tony Khan commented on Andrade's first month on Dynamite during a chat with the New York Post and the AEW president revealed El Idolo was the one who wanted to make a connection with the Guerrero family.

"It was his idea to make the connection with the Guerreros and he had asked about using Vickie. It was my idea to bring in Chavo. I thought Chavo would really add something. I'd seen Chavo recently on an independent show. He was in great shape and we had talked about associating because Andrade El Idolo comes from a very famous wrestling family," Khan stated.

"He wanted to be associated with that (the Guerreros) and Vickie was here. As we went on I wanted to add something to the presentation and I couldn't put my finger on what, and then I saw Chavo on an independent show and I just had a light bulb moment."

Andrade has also ingratiated himself within Lucha Libre since his WWE departure and he looks set to feud with Death Triangle on Dynamite in the coming weeks.
