The exit of Laynie Luck from WWE’s ID program has made headlines this week, especially since WWE made the decision to not renew her deal despite her reigning as the WWE ID Champion for nearly a year. There was reported surprise internally following this decision, and even more so upon another exit from the system.
It has emerged that 22 year old Marcus Mathers is the latest name to have their time in the WWE ID program ended, with him posting the following to social media;
"As of this week, my time with WWEID has come to an end. What an incredible two years it's been. I've learned so much, gained invaluable knowledge and made friendships and memories that I'll always cherish. I want to thank WWE for their time! Time is the most valuable thing any of us can give. So when this chapter closed, I did what I know how to do, I kept moving. I rolled up to The Dungeon and trained with some of the hungriest people in the world. Today I got Amazing Red, Tomorrow Nick Gage, match Sunday and match Monday. Now my next chapter awaits and it's up to me and my hunger to take me there. I'm in the drivers seat. I'm going to show up EVERYWHERE to fight ANYONE.”
On the back of this departure, a report came out from Fightful Select which stated that there are “numerous WWE Superstars” who have now questioned the entire WWE ID system given that some notable and young independent talents have not had their contracts renewed.
