Anthony Henry and JD Drake are part of the Workhorsemen tag team, currently appearing in the likes of AEW, ROH, and over the independent wrestling scene. They’ve been teaming together since all the way back in 2016, notably wrestling in EVOLVE before then finding their way to AEW programming in 2022.

A few years back, EVOLVE was a place where many WWE talents would wrestle after an agreement was made between the two sides, and it even led to some notable names from EVOLVE signing with WWE. In 2021, Henry signed with WWE developmental under the name of Asher Hale. He competed on NXT and 205 Live, mostly in losing efforts, before being released just a few months into his deal.

In a post on X, Henry revealed that his tag team partner JD Drake was supposed to be signed alongside him originally, though those plans never came to fruition.

“Something not many know: @RealJDDrake was supposed to be signed, alongside myself, for WWE. Obviously, that didn’t happen. I often wonder what would have happened had that happened. I think we still would have ended up where we are, but the journey would have been different.”

Drake himself was a notable name in EVOLVE, competing on the live 10th Anniversary show that aired on the WWE Network, losing to Austin Theory. However, this did not score him a WWE deal. Henry was recently released from AEW, though it was announced soon after that the company were planning on bringing him back.
