Atsushi Onita Vs. Bully Ray Set For Indie Show
Third time lucky for Onita against Bully Ray?
Atsushi Onita is set to return to Philadelphia when he takes on ECW icon Bully Ray for Battleground Championship Wrestling.
Onita vs. Ray will headline the March 26 show at the legendary 2300 Arena - better known as the ECW Arena - and will be the third time that Onita and Bully will face each other in their respective careers, but the first time in singles action.
Onita will be hoping for some retribution, with Bully Ray defeating Onita on their two previous meetings; a ten-man tag match where Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley, The Sandman, Terry Funk, and Tommy Dreamer defeated Atsushi Onita, Great Fake, Hido, Tetsuhiro Kuroda, and The Gladiator (Mike Awesome) in FMW in December 1997, and a six-man tag match where The Dudley Boys (with Big Dick Dudley) defeated Onita, The Sandman, and Tommy Dreamer in the ECW Arena in 1998.
Onita’s last appearance in the United States was in October 2021, where he defeated a returning Matt Tremont in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch.
