Austin Theory Says Johnny Gargano Is Out Of WWE NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day

The NXT North American Championship May Not Be Defended On Sunday...

The planned NXT North American Championship contest between Johnny Gargano and KUSHIDA at this Sunday's WWE NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day will not take place, according to Austin Theory.

Gargano and KUSHIDA's match for the North American Championship was made official on NXT last week during a segment in which the Japanese star and Johnny Wrestling clashed backstage, ending with KUSHIDA laying out Gargano with a vicious kick.

It seems, however, that the scheduled championship match may not be taking place at Sunday's NXT TakeOver event, with fellow The Way member Theory tweeting a video that suggests Gargano is unable to compete.

The 23-year-old also hinted that he and KUSHIDA would have some form of meeting at this week's NXT, as Theory seeks revenge on behalf of Gargano.

"I just left Johnny's house," Theory said in the video. "And I can't hold this in anymore. Johnny's out of TakeOver. That's right. NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, Johnny will not be there. And it's all because of you, KUSHIDA.

"You know, I've always got a smile on my face, but it's time to be serious. I'm not playing around. Tomorrow [Wednesday] night on NXT, KUSHIDA, you will pay. Not cash, not credit, not debit. You will pay with an a**-whooping from Austin Theory. And that is The Way!"

WWE are yet to confirm Theory's statement that Gargano is unable to appear at this NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, but further clarity is likely to be given at Wednesday's NXT.

NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day is set for this Sunday and will see Finn Balor defend the NXT Championship against Pete Dunne, while Io Sharai puts her NXT Women's Championship on the line against Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez.
