Bandido stands as your new Ring of Honor World Champion, winning the title for a second time after defeating Chris Jericho at AEW Dynasty on April 6.
The win caps off a strong return for Bandido, having returned to AEW/ROH in late 2024, with Fightful Select reporting that Bandido’s title win had been planned for some time.
ROH reportedly put plans in motion to get the title onto Bandido since his return in 2024, but there was a number of hurdles along the way, such as Bandido suffering a concussion shortly after his return, and the ‘ridiculous’ situation that caused the Dynasty title vs. mask match to be formally announced seemingly at the last minute.
The plan is for Bandido to lead the brand going forward, with ROH Women’s World Champion Athena seemingly looking set to rejoin the AEW women’s roster as part of her feud with Mercedes Moné. Former men’s champion Chris Jericho is set to depart the brand for the time being at least, and it remains to be seen if ROH lands a broadcast deal after seemingly years of hunting.
