Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2025

Brock Lesnar made his WWE return at the close of SummerSlam 2025 night two, with Lesnar attacking John Cena after his main event match with Cody Rhodes.

SummerSlam marked the first WWE appearance for ‘The Beast’ in over 18 months, with a planned 2024 return nixed after Lesnar was implicated in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon, and WWE. A report from Fightful Select has shed some more light on Lesnar’s return, with details about the Cena Rhodes main event kept very quiet within WWE up until bell-time.

The details surrounding the main event were reportedly kept quiet from writers, production crew, and producers amongst others, with some wondering if The Rock would make his return during the match. Lesnar was hidden throughout August 3, having been reportedly flown in from Minnesota by private jet on August 2, and is believed to have made his way backstage at around 9:15pm ET during the main event match prior to his appearance.

Whilst there has been no legal ‘clearing of wrongdoing’ for Lesnar pertaining to Grant’s lawsuit, he is not being actively sued or prosecuted. It is believed that John Cena himself wanted to work with Lesnar as part of his retirement tour.

Due to his association with the Grant case, it is rumoured that Lesnar’s return and status may have played a part in WWE’s decision to move away from holding traditional post-show press conferences.
