CM Punk is no longer Undisputed WWE Champion after dropping the belt to Sami Zayn in a surprise title change on the September 11 edition of Friday Night SmackDown from Mexico City, Mexico, with Punk's title reign coming to an end after 67 days.

Zayn ultimately picked up the win following a match laced with interference, with Zayn regaining the WWE Championship that he dropped to CM Punk on the July 6 edition of Monday Night Raw in Chicago, which ended Zayn's first reign as world champion after just nine days. The SmackDown main event was produced by Bobby Roode and Shawn Daivari, according to Fightful Select.

Ahead of the SmackDown match in a backstage interview with Cathy Kelley, CM Punk referenced Zayn's first short title reign, making an NSFW remark about how Sami Zayn broke his hand.

"If you think I came to Mexico City, where some of the greatest pro wrestling fans in the world reside, to lose my title to a guy who broke his hand jerking it to his nine-day fluke title win, then you've got another thing coming," Punk stated.

The remark has since been bleeped out on Netflix in another example of the streaming service's censorship of WWE programming, but the comment may have been an off-the-cuff remark from CM Punk, with Fightful noting that the "jerking it" jab was not listed on the internal rundown for Friday Night SmackDown.
