Backstage News On Kyle O'Reilly's AEW Return

Everything you need to know about Kyle O'Reilly's AEW return

Kyle O'Reilly is back in All Elite Wrestling, returning to the promotion after almost two years out of action at the Revolution pay-per-view on Sunday, March 3.

KOR made his return following Roderick Strong's win over Orange Cassidy to capture the AEW International Championship. O'Reilly hugged Strong following his return but he didn't immediately join the Undisputed Kingdom, instead giving Roddy the Undisputed shirt before whispering something in his ear.

O'Reilly's return came after a long stint out of action and Fightful Select noted there were points after June 2022 where AEW operated with the idea that O'Reilly may never return to in-ring action. By Autumn 2023, though, O'Reilly was said to be optimistic about making a comeback.

O'Reilly was never planned to be a part of the Undisputed Kingdom reveal at Worlds End and "a different direction has been in the works for months." Beyond his new look, other elements of O'Reilly's gimmick will be different too, Fightful noted.

Others in AEW didn't expect his return to take place so early in March. Several fans spotted the former ROH World Champion travelling into Greensboro for Revolution, however.

Although O'Reilly, Adam Cole, and Roderick Strong are all a part of All Elite Wrestling, the promotion reportedly had no plans to bring back O'Reilly's reDRagon tag team partner Bobby Fish as of a couple of weeks ago.
