R-Truth at WWE Money in the Bank

It has been a whirlwind of a week for R-Truth, who announced on June 1 that he was set to leave WWE, with the promotion deciding to not renew his expiring deal. Across social media and every live WWE show, fierce backlash has run wild, with chants of “we want Truth” chorusing its way through crowds. In the main event of Money In The Bank 2025 last night, R-Truth made a shocking comeback, interfering to aid Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso to a victory over John Cena and Logan Paul.

There was some speculation that the whole thing had been a work, with Triple H himself claiming during the Money In The Bank post-show press conference that it was all part of the story, however reports suggest otherwise (as did R-Truth’s son, who posted a “cap” in response to Triple H’s comments). Fightful Select noted that the situation was in fact not a work, with many talents expressing the fact that R-Truth was legitimately unhappy behind the scenes following the exit, as were many talents. It was said that Truth being cut in an impersonal way led to him being shocked and disgusted. Over the week, WWE had attempted to reach out to Truth following the backlash, though it took Nick Khan himself to get through to Truth in order to negotiate a new deal.

Other reports and comments have refuted any claim of a work too, as Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net posted to X and stated that Truth was in fact rehired due to the backlash from fans. PWInsider have also reported that this new deal came into existence within the previous 72 hours, and prior to that he was already in discussions with outside promotions for appearances. Interestingly, it seems as though R-Truth will be going under the name Ron Killings for now, sporting his real name rather than the ‘R-Truth’ ring name he has become well known with ever since his return to the company in 2008.
