Backstage News On WWE Allowing Dijak's Contract To Expire

More on WWE allowing Dijak’s contract to expire

Donovan Dijak is officially departing WWE, with the former NXT star alleging that WWE did not make a solid attempt to sign him to a new deal.

Dijak’s contract expires on June 28 after he was informed ‘at the 11th hour’ that WWE would not be retaining his services. A report from Fightful Select has shed some more light on the situation, noting that Dijak was well-liked and praised by officials in the company, with NXT head Shawn Michaels a noted supporter of Dijak.

Dijak himself told Fightful he believes WWE had been intent on letting his deal expire ‘for a while’, with Dijak allegedly informed of WWE’s decision within the last two weeks.

Since his call-up to WWE Raw earlier this year, there were several weeks when Dijak was not brought to TV tapings, and the times he was saw him be bounced to either Main Event or Speed, with no creative plans in place for Dijak upon his call-up. Talent within WWE were reportedly surprised that Dijak wasn’t a regular on Raw, and were further shocked that WWE made little attempt to keep him on the roster. One source told Fightful that 20 years ago Dijak “would have had a job ‘til his legs fell off.”

With his WWE exit, Dijak certainly goes to the top of the free agency list in wrestling, with ‘major companies’ reportedly having contacted Dijak’s management to gauge interest in Dijak’s availability.
