New Orleans Superdome for WWE WrestleMania 30

WWE shockingly pulled plans to host WrestleMania 42 in New Orleans on May 22, with the show now believed to be headed once again for Las Vegas.

New Orleans have hosted WrestleMania in the past, but were gearing up to play host to their first two-night Mania in 2026, with The Rock announcing the news publicly in February. However, WWE have pulled the plug on plans with it looking likely that Mania XLII will be set for Vegas for the second year on the bounce.

As to why WWE pulled Mania from New Orleans has not been publicly revealed, but Walt Leger, head of New Orleans & Co., has stated that the city and WWE are working on building other events for the New Orleans market, with a view to hosting WrestleMania again in the future.

Leger told NOLA.com that WWE informed sports and tourism officials in New Orleans on Thursday that they no longer planned to host WrestleMania 42 in the city.

"We've worked with them for the last several days to try to identify some future dates and future events to bring to the city," Leger added.

New Orleans previously played host to WrestleMania XXX and 34, the latter setting an indoor attendance record for the Superdome.
