Per
f4wonline.com, Bakersfield police have commented on the dog attack that injured SmackDown Live Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura. In case you missed the news
yesterday, The King Of Strong Style was bitten by a police sniffer dog in Bakersfield, California – the location of a WWE house show on Monday night. Nakamura was scheduled to face Jeff Hardy on SmackDown Live this week, but the match had to be cancelled due to Shinsuke's injuries.
The statement read: “On Monday, June 25, 2018, officers of the Bakersfield Police Department Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Team were conducting a protective sweep of the Rabobank Arena in preparation for the WWE Live Summerslam Heatwave Tour.
“During the sweep, the EOD Team, which consisted of an explosive detection trained canine team and bomb technicians entered an area of the arena where an employee of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) was present. The canine entered the room to sweep for the presence of any explosive material. As the sweep took place the WWE employee was accidentally bit by the canine. The employee sustained an injury to his lower left leg. Medical aid was immediately summoned to the scene and the employee was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.”
So the attack
actually
happened then. Since Dave Meltzer initially broke the news yesterday, many online have tried to debunk the story by saying WWE merely released Nakamura early so he could return home to Japan ahead of the company's shows in the Far East later this week.
At the time of writing, Nakamura's ability to compete in matches as part of that set of shows is still unknown, with the observer noting there's no timeline on his return.
