AEW has seen a vast array of match types taking place over the years, with the company hosting matches such as Texas Death, Stadium Stampede, Lights Out, Strap, Dog Collar, and even Mimosa Mayhem. However, at Double Or Nothing 2024, AEW will have it’s first ever Barbed Wire Steel Cage match.

On last night’s episode of AEW Rampage, the reigning TNT Champion Adam Copeland cut a promo following his successful defence over Kyle O’Reilly. He sent his words in the way of Malakai Black, with whom Copeland has been feuding for several weeks. Copeland has defeated both Buddy Matthews and Brody King with his TNT Title on the line, and he is now targeting the last available member of the House Of Black group.

Copeland challenged Black to a match at the upcoming Double Or Nothing PPV in Las Vegas, Nevada, and wants the stipulation to be a Barbed Wire Steel Cage. AEW has seen several Steel Cage matches, but never a barbed wire variation. The company will be hoping to break their barbed wire curse, as both their Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch at Revolution 2021 and Barbed Wire Everywhere match between Eddie Kingston and Chris Jericho both received negative reactions.
