Absent AEW Wrestler To Return After Over Six Months Away

Last night saw the announced return for a former champion in AEW

The last few years haven’t been kind to Scorpio Sky, who has battled with a mixture of injuries and a lack of opportunity. The former AEW World Tag Team and TNT Champion wrestled his last match on October 10, 2023 on ROH programming. In 2023, he only competed in six matches overall, returning as part of the new AEW Collision show after a year out of action.

On last night’s AEW Rampage, a vignette aired to announce Scorpio Sky’s impending return to TV. In the vignette, Sky explained how he’d been out hurt, but he is better than ever now.

“Yes, I was hurt. And yes, I’m better than ever now. Every time you get hurt, you heal. After darkness comes the light. When most people see an injury as a step back, I saw it as a step forward, but I had tough days - I struggled like normal people do. Now, I choose to believe if you put one foot in front of the other, every step takes you closer to your destination, it’s all about faith - and if you don’t have it, that’s okay, I’m here for you, because together… the sky is the limit.”

The tone and content of this promo implies that Sky is in line for some sort of gimmick change which will see him be overly positive, motivational, and cheesy. Despite the positive language, it has undertones of something more.

Sky’s former tag team partner, Ethan Page, left AEW recently. The pair looked to reunite on ROH last year, but this never came to fruition.
