Becky Lynch Found Out About WWE SummerSlam 2021 Comeback Match 'A Day Or Two Before'

Lynch returned at WWE SummerSlam 2021

Becky Lynch has revealed she only got full confirmation that she would be making her WWE in-ring return at SummerSlam 2021 'a day or two' prior to the event.

Lynch made her long-awaited comeback to WWE at this year's SummerSlam, having been off television since May 2020 due to pregnancy. The Man defeated Bianca Belair in a 26 second bout to become the new SmackDown Women's Champion, taking the spot from Sasha Banks, who was unable to perform on the show.

Lynch has now confirmed the timeline behind her return, recalling that she got the call about potentially being needed at the start of the week before being told the definite plan on the Friday - the day before the pay-per-view itself.

Speaking to BT Sport, Lynch said: "I actually really only knew what I was doing, probably, that I was going to have that match probably a day or two before. I got a call on Monday, SummerSlam was on Saturday, that there was a possibility that I was needed to fill in for a match, but I didn't know entirely until Friday.

"She [Bianca] was preparing for a different match. She had her sights set on Sasha. She also, she trusted me. That was her first mistake. She's new to the game, she hasn't been watching her entire life. DTA [Don't Trust Anybody].

"It's not personal, it's business. I want to be the champ. If you're not in there to be the champ, then get out. She should have been a bit more suspicious."
