For months and months, reports emerged suggesting that the absent Becky Lynch was set to return to WWE programming. This occurred in the lead up to Survivor Series 2024, the 2025 Royal Rumble, and once again on the Road To WrestleMania before she eventually re-emerged at WrestleMania 41 as Lyra Valkyria’s tag team partner, taking on Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
Lynch initially took a break from WWE last year, dropping the Women’s World Title to Liv Morgan and losing a rematch on the May 27 episode of Monday Night RAW. When speaking with Variety, Lynch revealed that she’d only intended to take a few months off, but outside commitments piled up (in addition to a skin condition) and her return was ultimately delayed.
“I took what I thought was going to be three months off during the summer, when my contract came up. I was like, ‘Okay, seems like a good time to take a little break, get some stuff done.’ Then other things came up – I was filming ‘Star Trek,’ and then ‘Happy Gilmore.’ There was talk [of a return] around Rumble time, but then at the last minute, I got a skin condition. The next big event was WrestleMania, so it seemed to make sense, especially if I could take Bayley out of the mix and ruin her dreams. It felt doubly brilliant.”
Lynch would turn heel on the RAW after WrestleMania, but lose in her attempts to take the Intercontinental Title from Lyra Valkyria at Backlash 2025.
