Becky Lynch Wins Women's World Title On WWE Raw

Becky Lynch becomes new Women's World Champion on WWE Raw

Although she was the heavy favourite with the bookies, Liv Morgan did not leave the April 22 episode of Monday Night Raw as the new Women's World Champion.

WWE held a Battle Royal in the main event of Raw to crown a new Women's World Champion after Rhea Ripley was forced to vacate the title last week due to injury. The Battle Royal ultimately came down to Becky Lynch, Liv Morgan, and Nia Jax, with Lynch and Morgan working together to dispatch of Jax.

Lynch and Morgan then brawled on the apron and Lynch picked up the win after dodging Oblivion and following up with the Manhandle Slam, sending Morgan to the floor in the process.

With her win, Lynch becomes a seven-time women's champion on the main roster, having previously held the SmackDown Women's Title four times and the Raw Women's Title twice. Lynch is also a one-time NXT Women's Champion and one-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion.

Lynch commented on her win in a Raw Exclusive, saying:

"It feels great to hear [I'm the WWE Women's World Champion]. I've never held this championship before. Look at it, it's beautiful, it's beautiful. Look, for the last few months, Rhea even said it, I've been burning the candle all out. I've been away from my daughter for weeks on end. Got myself a New York Times bestseller for a damn near month. But man, it's worth it. It's worth it because the words of my book are written on my gear. It reminds me why I do this, where I started, where I've gotten to. We're just going up, baby."
