Big E Says "Some Thought" Was Given To Debuting Him With The Shield Members

The reigning IC champion debuted around the same time

History will show that four major WWE stars got their call-up near the end of 2012: Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Big E.

The former trio debuted together as the justice-doling Shield. Big E, meanwhile, made his first appearance a month later, as an enforcer for Dolph Ziggler.

According to Big E on his "WWE: 24" special, there was some thought given to having the four debut altogether, before plans changed and he went off into that different direction.

"My first feeling of getting called up was 2012. I was doing loops. Any collective period of days is a loop. It's Roman [Reigns], Seth [Rollins], Dean [Ambrose], and me. There was some thought of bringing all four of us in together as a group," the former New Day member claims. "Obviously, that changes, they go on to international fame as The Shield. I was told, 'You're going to be with Dolph and AJ, on your very first night, you're going to attack John Cena.' I'm thinking, 'Man, this is it.'"
