Bracket Revealed For AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament

The teams competing to be crowned the new AEW World Tag Team Champions have been revealed

At AEW Revolution 2024, Sting & Darby Allin vacated the AEW World Tag Team Championships following Sting’s retirement from professional wrestling and Allin’s desire to go forwards as a singles competitor (in addition to his now cancelled plans to climb Mt. Everest). Tony Khan announced a tournament to crown new champions, and the bracket has now been announced.

In two preliminary “Wild Card” rounds, Trent Beretta & Orange Cassidy of Best Friends will take on Powerhouse Hobbs & Kyle Fletcher of the Don Callis Family, and Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo of The Infantry will battle House Of Black’s Brody King & Buddy Matthews.

The winners of those two matches go ahead to the quarter finals to face ROH World Tag Team Champions Matt Taven and Mike Bennett of The Undisputed Kingdom and FTR respectively. The other two quarter final matches will be made up of The Young Bucks vs. Private Party (in a rematch from the first ever AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament back in 2019) and former AEW World Tag Team Champions Big Bill & Ricky Starks vs. Top Flight.

The finals of this tournament will take place at the first ever AEW Dynasty PPV event on April 21.
