AEW World Tag Team Titles Vacated Following Sting's Retirement

New AEW World Tag Team Champions on the horizon

All Elite Wrestling will need to crown new tag team champions.

Sting and Darby Allin defended the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks in Sting's retirement match at Revolution on Sunday, March 3. In a somewhat surprising finish, Sting won his final match, forcing Matthew Jackson to tap out after applying the Scorpion Deathlock. AEW and Tony Khan were reportedly adamant about Sting ending his career on top.

It was announced during the post-Revolution press conference by Tony Khan that All Elite Wrestling will be vacating the AEW World Tag Team Championships. A multi-bracket tournament will be held to crown new champions and more details will be revealed at a later date.

The Young Bucks, according to Fightful Select, will reportedly be remaining involved in the AEW World Tag Team Title picture following Revolution. No teams have been announced for the tournament as of yet but Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli will likely be involved following their win over FTR at the March 3 pay-per-view.

Darby Allin is set to return to singles action following Sting's retirement. He will take on Jay White at AEW Dynamite Big Business on Wednesday, March 13.
